MISSION

The Intelligence Oversight Directorate supports the Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Privacy, Civil Liberties, and Transparency and DoD Senior Intelligence Oversight Official through functional engagements and strengthening partnerships with DoD Components, the Intelligence Community, federal agencies, the White House Staff, and Congress.

The DoD Senior Intelligence Oversight Official executes the Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Privacy, Civil Liberties, and Transparency’s responsibilities to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense for the provision of independent oversight of all intelligence and intelligence-related activities consistent with Presidential Executive Order 12333.  DoD Directive 5148.11 outlines the position’s responsibilities and functions.
